The "CDE" (Carbon Dust Extraction) extraction system for brush dust stands out for its perfectly coordinated system of extraction, carbon brush and holder. Before the unavoidable abrasion of even the best carbon brush causes soiling and damage to the system, the dust must be extracted. With the CDE system, Schunk offers a fully automatic cleaning system to extract free-floating dust directly – and quietly.
It can be integrated into new systems or retrofitted to existing generators cost-effectively and easily, ensuring greater operational safety, shorter downtimes, and lower maintenance costs.
Pär Wallmark, Business Area Manager of Schunk Carbon Technology AB Sweden, and Schunk Application Engineer Anders Törnström have just returned from Norway. There they oversaw the installation of a Schunk CDE system for Saude Faldene, the client in Sauda. "This system will help our customers to continue to boost their production efficiency and competitiveness. The risk of electrical short circuits in the generator is also significantly reduced by the extraction system,” Pär Wallmark explains. "The installation went ahead quickly, and the required downtime was minimal."
With decades of experience and extensive expertise in materials, Schunk has the expertise to help its customers optimize their power output by choosing the right type of brush, material and holders. On-site analysis often allows further recommendations to reduce brush wear and the build-up of brush dust that comes with it. The brush dust that unavoidably remains is reliably extracted by the fully automatic CDE system from Schunk.
